The FXCore Pilot development board provides a complete platform for prototyping and developing FXCore based products. The board includes switches for digital inputs, potentiometers for CV inputs, and 2.5mm jacks for all audio inputs and outputs. Two stereo codecs provide AC coupled analog input and output supporting all 4 audio channels of the FXCore.

The Pilot allows operation of the FXCore with no external circuitry and is a complete platform for development of FXCore firmware and FXCore based products. All on-board controls can be disabled and made available on header pins for off-board operation of program selection, option settings, control voltages, etc. A USB interface provides for programming the FXCore with the Experimental Noize assembler toolchain or the open source Sandbox-FXCore programming tools.

The Polot uses a CT3680 module to host the FXCore, codecs, and support circuits. The Pilot is supplied with the default FXCore firmware instead of the CT360 delay-line programs.

The FXCore Pilot development board features

2.5mm TS (mono) audio input jacks are provided for all analog inputs and outputs. Six on-board potentiometers provide 0V to 3.3V variable POT inputs. 4 on-board switches are provided for program selection and 5 for option settings (FXCore SWITCH inputs). Easily accessible test points are provided for all signals, and dedicated header pins provide easy scope probing of all analog inputs and outputs.

The board requires +5V DC from an external source via a 5.5mm (center positive) power jack. An onboard regulator produces 3.3V. A switch allows power down of the development board without disconnecting the external power.

The FXCore Pilot development board is available as a bare PCB, kit, or fully populated with all components, rubber feet and potentiometer knobs (colors may vary).

Chaining Multiple FXCore DSPs

The FXCore Pilot development board supports chaining multiple FXCore chips for advanced effects processing. The chaining is digital so there is no loss of audio quality. Up to 2 channels can be chained from one FXCore to the next. Note that this feature is not a native feature of the FXCore DSP but is implemented by the CT3680 module.
