This Cliff optical receiver converts optical input to digital TTL compatible signals. With a maximum data rate of 16Mbps it is compatible with ADAT and S/PDIF signaling protocols, and conforms to the EIAJ CP-1201 digital audio interface standard. This connector accepts standard TOSLINK optical cables.

This module is electrically compatible with the Toshiba TORX171 device, but has a different mechanical outline and board mounting footprint.

The built-in hinged shutter design keeps dust out of the receptacle when not in use and eliminates the easy-to-lose dust plugs of earlier designs.

May be used with the Cliff FCR684205T optical transmitter for a complete optical transmission system.
